Why I run

I started exercising when my first child was born 15 years ago. It was time to get in shape, I found the feel good endorphins I received were enormous, and an added bonus! I soon became addicted to “my time”(which was so precious).

I love to run! I run on a regular basis with my preference definitely being outside in the fresh air, but treadmill work is also great as you can really challenge yourself if the weather does not permit.

I run 2-3 times a week and weight train 5 times a week (3 of those with a trainer to push boundaries and work to my limits, then following a weights program for the other 2). I also do two spin classes a week and a boxing session. In winter I do the occasional Bikram yoga class that I so enjoy when the temperatures are low.

I was never really a runner until one day thought I would just give it a go. Each day I walked/ran a little further until I could do a non-stop run. These days I run 10 or so kilometres. Some days I will run 6km to the gym, do my weights and then run home.
